InformationTitleRepairable Spares vs PartsContentContentParts: Parts are considered consumable items in MVP. This means that once they are used, they are not reused and are not repaired for use again. Additionally, Parts are not items where each individual unit is uniquely distinguished. For example, a stock location may contain 10 O-Rings. Each of those O-Rings may have a different manufacturer and vendor, but they are all considered to be the same. Repairable Spares: In MVP Repairable Spares are a class of Asset that is used in conjunction with Equipment in a Parent-Child Relationship. Repairable Spares can be moved from Equipment to Equipment using the Asset Tree and can be removed from Equipment to be repaired or put into storage if not being used. Each Repairable Spare is created uniquely, even if they are the same. For example, you may have three 10 horsepower motors used on a specific piece of Equipment, each Motor is created separately as a unique Repairable Spare. When a Repairable Spare is not being used, or repaired, it can be placed in storage. While in storage it is associated with a Warehouse and Stock Location and is counted with the overall Inventory.
