InformationTitleImport Wizard OverviewContentContentThe Import Wizard allows local administrators to import data into MVP in batches. To import data using the Import Wizard, follow the steps below when logged in as an Admin user: Select Administration.Select Import Wizard.In the drop-down menu, select the table you wish to import to, and click Next.Click the blue link at the top, and download the template. Then open the template in Excel.Fill out the fields in Excel. Please note that any field with a blue highlight and in bold is required.Save the Excel file as an Excel Workbook (xlsx).In MVP's Import Wizard choose the Excel file created in the step above.Select Upload File and then Next.Select whether you'd like to override duplicates with the data on the sheet and whether you'd like to roll back the import as soon as it encounters an error. Select Process. The Import Wizard can also be used in conjunction with the Export Reports found in the Reporting module. Please reference this article for more information. The Import Wizard has no Hadoop’s-coded limit to the number of records that can be imported at one time, however we recommend importing below 5,000 records for efficiency and troubleshooting purposes. If your Email is entered in your People record you will be notified by email when the import process is completed. Data Types BoolBoolean value; either “True” or “False.”DateTimeSQL DateTime format. Data in this type must be a date followed by the time (e.g. 10/10/09 1:00 pm, 3/15/2009 12:00 am).Decimal (cost fields)Decimal value (e.g. 5, 7, 1.5, 2.25). This type of data is exactly accurate (no rounding), and is useful for financial data.DoubleNumber value (e.g. Ex. 5, 7, 1.5, 2.25). This type of data may be rounded off to the nearest number, and therefore should not be used with financial data.FloatDecimal value (e.g. 1.5, 2.25, 10.5).IntInteger value (any whole number; e.g. 1, 5, 382).ShortA specific amount of integer or character values.SingleDecimal value (e.g. 5, 7, 1.5, 2.25). StringAny text. The length is followed in parentheses. “MAX” length means there is no text limit. Miscellaneous Records will not import if certain data being imported do not already exist in the system. For example, when importing Equipment records, the Asset Type of each record must already exist before the import will process.If using an Import Wizard template to create your upload file, save the file as an Excel 1997-2003 or as a Workbook (the file type must be changed; by default, the file will save as a web page). Make sure the file has only one sheet.If when using the provided template as the basis for an upload file an error generates: "Column headings are incorrect.” To correct this copy and paste the information from the current upload file into a new Excel Workbook and restart the import with the new file.
