Instructions are used to provide a list of tasks or steps to follow on Work Orders. Instructions can be attached to Work Orders, PMs, or Assets.

 

Instructions can be attached to Work Orders in the following ways:

  • Manually by editing or using the Action button on a WO.
  • Instructions attached to PMs/PdMs/Job Plans are added when generating the WO. 
  • Default Instruction in Work Settings.
  • Default Instructions on an Asset.

 

Creating New Instructions

To create an Instruction Set use the following steps:

  1. Select Work.
  2. Select Instructions.
  3. Select New.
  4. Enter an Instruction ID.
  5. Enter the Text for the first Instruction Step in the text field below the "Add" button.
  6. Select Add to add the Instruction Step.
  7. Select Image, Meter, Text Reading, Calibration, or a Required Role for completion from drop-down menus if necessary.
    • When requiring specific Role completion on Instruction Steps, we recommend that your site require the completion of all Instruction Steps via the Administration Work Settings, to avoid users bypassing any steps.
    • To add Images to Instruction Steps, first add the desired image to the "Attachment" section, and once loaded the image can be chosen from the "Image" drop-down. PNG and JPG files will display in the steps themselves. All other attachment types, such as Word or Excel files, will display as hyperlinks.
  8. Repeat steps 5-6 as necessary.
  9. Select Save.

 

 

How to Fill Out an Instruction Set

General

Instruction ID: This field provides the name of the Instruction Set.

Description: This field can be used to provide additional details about the Instruction Set.

New Step: This section is used to add Steps to the Instruction Set. Enter the text instructions for the Step in the text field and then select "Add" to add a new Step.

Steps: This section lists all of the steps included in the Instruction Set.

  • Rank: This notes where this step is in the Instruction order.
  • Image: This allows you to add an image to the Instruction Step. This image must first be added under Attachments.
  • Meter: This allows you to add a Meter to the Instruction Step.
  • Text Reading: This allows you to add a Text Reading to the Instruction Step.
  • Calibration: This allows you to add a Calibration Record to the Instruction Step.
  • Required Role: This allows you to link a Role to the Instruction Step. This then requires the User completing this step to have the Required Role. 

 

 

Attachments

This section displays the image attachments that have been added to this record and allows you to add additional images. These images can then be attached to Instruction Steps.
