Part IDs can be automatically generated or manually created. When automatically generated they can optionally be edited by users or read-only. 

To make the Part ID automatically generated, and determine whether it is editable, use the following steps when logged in as an admin user:

  1. Select Administration.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Inventory.
  4. Change "Auto Generate Part IDs" to Yes (Editable) or No.
  5. If Yes or Yes (Editable) is selected, enter the beginning number in the Next Part ID field.
  6. Select Save when complete.
