Part Type and Part Class are two fields that can be used for subdividing and organizing Parts. There is no specific way that these two categories need to be used. The Part Class field is commonly used as a more general broad category, like "Electrical" or "Mechanical", while the Part Type field is used in a more specific way, such as "Bearing" or "Plug".

They allow for a narrower analysis than viewing all Parts.

Part Class and Part Types can be created and applied to Parts use the same basic steps:
  1. Select Inventory (from the side menu bar).
  2. Select Part Class or Part Type.
  3. Select New.
  4. Enter in ID.
  5. Enter in Description (if necessary).
  6. Select Save.
In order to apply Part Type or Part Class to a Part use the following steps:
  1. Select Inventory (from the side menu bar).
  2. Select Parts.
  3. Navigate to Part to edit.
  4. Select Edit.
  5. Add Part Type or Part Class.
  6. Select Save.
